My birthday was 3 days ago and of course I have to write. But about what? As I sit to write, I’m not even sure of what to share so let’s just go with the flow on this special day of being 31 years & 3 days old. I woke up around 6:30 a.m. on my birthday morning feeling excited and relieved. I was excited because it was MY DAY and thankful because the day before I just finished up my summer semester of taking 2 courses. One of the courses was a 4-week statistics class that almost gave me a breakdown! I literally had to take a step back…

WOMEN: 3 Ways Marriage Changes You
In today’s society, marriage is not always positively looked upon. It’s often not respected and women tend to view it as something that negatively impacts them. God instituted marriage and if we are led by Him to marriage and allow Him to take the lead within our marriages, we will truly be blessed. Marriage changes you in various ways. 3 Ways Marriage Changes You: 1. It secures you. Before I was married I was definitely a strong, secure, independent woman; but it’s something about marriage that provides you with a totally different kind of security. In my opinion, it’s better. When married, you feel secure enough to tackle things that…

FAMILY & PARENTING: 5 Lessons to Teach Our Kids
I’m a mother who believes that there is much more to parenthood than just putting a roof over their heads and feeding our children. Parenting is a huge responsibility, and how we raise our children today will influence them for the rest of their lives- whether we realize it or not. 5 LESSONS TO TEACH OUR KIDS: 1. Serve the Lord. There is nothing more humbling, fulfilling, and rewarding than serving the Lord. I do value education, but it is much more important for children to have a real relationship with the Lord. Prioritizing a relationship with Christ above everything is key. If they stay close to Jesus then…

LIFE: Will You Choose an Attitude or Gratitude?
Some days we wake up with every reason to have an attitude. Maybe it’s your marriage, your children, your job, or your finances. Other times, however, we have an attitude and we’re not even sure why. Regardless of the reason, we must decide if we will choose an attitude or gratitude. Do you ever find yourself waking up with an attitude from yesterday? This is so easy to do! Without even trying, we wake up carrying yesterday into today. If we submit to this way of life, we are allowing our yesterday to control our today. When experiencing these moments, we must know that we have the ability to…

Being attacked? 5 Ways to Fight Back
Whether we want to face it or not, we all have battles to fight. If Jesus was hated and crucified (and He was perfect), you better believe that someone is hating on you too. We’ll all be attacked in one way or another, the key is to fight back the right way. Being attacked? 5 Ways to Fight Back 1. DON’T RESPOND. Some people will poke you just to get a reaction out of you. We have to know when and when not to respond. This takes intention. Think about the person and the situation. Is responding really going to change anything? I’m big on using my energy wisely. If…

1 Day Shy of 1 Year of Marriage: What I’ve Learned
Tomorrow will mark our 1 year marriage anniversary. This is such a big deal and I’m truly in awe that it has been a year already. All glory to God for getting us this far! As I sit to write I don’t already have plans about what to write, I just know that this is something worth writing about. Last night at dinner I looked at Wes and told him I can’t imagine how much I will love him when I’m 50. As I reflect over our year, my love for him has grown tremendously. Marriage has a way of bringing out your good and your bad. It’s humbling…

Graduate School Update: “I feel so inspired & focused.”
Tonight I presented a lecture over ethics in news and it was my longest presentation ever. My partner and I were responsible for the full lecture for our 2.5 hours class. I must say, everything went well. I feel so inspired & focused. Walking away feeling from the experience I felt inspired and relieved. The primary reason I’m going for a master’s degree is because I want to teach communication at the college level. I feel capable. It has been quite a journey so I am just so thankful to God to be where I am today. I recognize that I am in a very special place, and I…

Repentance & Forgiveness in Marriage: 3 TIPS
Forget the fairytales, marriage is not about perfection, but rather repentance & forgiveness. If we are going to enjoy the blessing of marriage, we must first understand the critical role of repentance & forgiveness. I’ve been married for 20 days short of a year and 1 thing I’ve learned so far is that no marriage can thrive without repentance and forgiveness. Honestly, it’s a big part of what it’s all about. Since no one is perfect, every married couple will face things that they may not have expected. We all may face different things, but the fact is that we will all face some things within our marriage. Face it:…

And He Rose: Resurrection Sunday 2016
Because He rose, I live the life that I now live. Because He rose, I am forgiven and am able to forgive. Because He rose, my past can’t define me or control me. My past has no hold on me. Because He rose, I am free and free to be me. I am simply me. Because He rose, I’m new. I’m a new creature with a new mind, thinking new thoughts, doing new things. Becuase He rose, I know I have the victory. Because He rose, no one can stop me. Whatever He says will be. Whatever He has for me I’ll receive. Because He rose, I can love, give,…
