My Birthday is 2 Days Away: 2 Days Left of 33

I wrote 4 days ago, sharing how I was in a state of reflection regarding my birthday. If you haven’t read it, read Choose to Live Right Now: 6 Days Left of 33. As I sit at IHOP on this Sunday evening at 11:37 p.m., with 2 days left of 33, I can honestly say that I’m now ready for the next stage. You know 1 thing that the Lord has been majorly dealing with me on? Humility. I’m simply humbled to realize how deep pride runs. How natural it is and honestly how good it feels. Pride is deceitful and ultimately destroys (Proverbs 16:18), but the only way to…

Choose to Live Right Now: 6 Days Left of 33

Are you living right now? I mean really living. Are you enjoying your life? So often we rush through life, waiting for the next big thing, that we are not really living in the now. Whether we realize this or not, our desire for more keeps us in a continual state of dissatisfaction. We must learn how to live right now. We must choose to live right now. Today I am exactly 6 days away from turning 34 and I’m not excited about it. Actually, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed and discouraged because I haven’t completed a major project that I wanted to be done with before my birthday. Why…

BREAK FREE & LIVE! 10 Days Away!

BREAK FREE & LIVE! launches in exactly 10 days and I’m humbled and excited to be able to share it with the world. It has truly been a surreal experience up to this point. I never imagined that it would evolve the way it has. Check out a few pictures from the journey: When Christ sets us free, we are free indeed. As we follow Christ, we are simply walking in faith, often unaware of what lies ahead. Chains prevent us from walking in faith by keeping us attached to the things of the past. In order to BREAK FREE & LIVE!, we must forget those things which are behind…

    Free to Speak

Courage precedes speaking. You have to be free in order to speak. Are you free to speak? Do you speak your truth? Are you free to speak without adjusting your words to fit the audience? Or, do you adapt your words based on who you’re speaking with? Do you flat out lie in order to be accepted? These are questions we should all face, as our freedom lies in our ability to speak. In this post, I discuss how my freedom was in my speaking. We know we’re free when we’re able to talk about it. When we hide, lie, fake and pretend, we’re still bound. When we are free,…

Are You Free? BREAK FREE & LIVE!

BREAK FREE & LIVE! will be launching in exactly 38 days on 3.3.19 and the question on the table is this: Are you free? 5 Questions to Determine How FREE You Really Are: Are you free from the opinions of others? Do you quickly react to situations around you? Do you still feel guilty from past decisions? Are your emotions unstable and often negative? Do you battle feelings of inadequacy? I encourage you to answer these questions honestly.  Our situations won’t change until we put forth the effort to change them.  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, BREAK FREE & LIVE! is a must-read. It’s easy to seek temporary solutions…

    Summer 2018 Is Almost Over

It’s the Saturday before school starts, I haven’t blogged in over 2 months, and here I am mid-day with Weslee Nichole sleeping next to me as I update you all.  Summer 2018 is almost over. I went to sleep early last night, well actually I fell asleep, only to wake up at 2 a.m. realizing that I needed to complete the syllabus for my course that starts on Tuesday- the Tuesday that’s 3 days from today.  I work until 7 a.m., sleep until 9, then get up to flat iron Maraya’s hair for her pom pictures. Isn’t she gorgeous? When I look at her I’m reminded of how gracious the…

Change is Inevitable: Respect It & Move On

Life is full of change.  Things change, situations change, relationships change.  When change occurs, we must respect it & move on. Often, we want to understand the change- We ask why.  We may resist the change- We try to force.  We want to deny the change- We attempt to move on as if things are the same, knowing inside that they have changed. Why is it so hard for us to respect it & move on?   Change is inevitable. Changes throughout life represent growth.  If we take a step back and objectively think about it, doesn’t a lack of change equate to stagnation?  Mediocrity?  Even death? Things that don’t grow,…

As I Reflect on 3 Years of Marriage

May 1, 2018 marked 3 years of marriage for us and I couldn’t be more thankful.  As I reflect on 3 years of marriage, I’m still humbled by the fact that I am a wife- as I’ve shared before that I never even thought about marriage before Christ.  I’m in awe at how perfectly the Lord paired me and my husband.  I’m grateful for all that He’s done for us within these 3 years. Why I am humbled? It was such a journey to get here, and little did I know that getting here was just the half of it.  It has been such a journey since we’ve been married.  The attacks, the…

    Professor Woodward:

I am now Professor Woodward.  How did I get here?  In a few words: Faith, hard work, decisions. Faith: I would’ve never made it to where I am in life had I not put my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He is my everything.  He is the reason.  He is the rock upon which I stand and I know apart from Him I can do nothing (John 15:5).  He is the One who called me out of darkness into His marvelous light (I Peter 2:9). The only reason I’m here is because He chose me for this. He saved me from a dark, hopeless, and insecure place.  He…
