As I Reflect on 3 Years of Marriage

May 1, 2018 marked 3 years of marriage for us and I couldn’t be more thankful.  As I reflect on 3 years of marriage, I’m still humbled by the fact that I am a wife- as I’ve shared before that I never even thought about marriage before Christ.  I’m in awe at how perfectly the Lord paired me and my husband.  I’m grateful for all that He’s done for us within these 3 years.

Why I am humbled?

It was such a journey to get here, and little did I know that getting here was just the half of it.  It has been such a journey since we’ve been married.  The attacks, the changes, the growth, the understanding.  Marriage is of God – the Lord Himself put us together – and anything that the Lord has anything to do with will be attacked.  I’m humbled that we made it through.

“So they are no longer two, but one flesh.  Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

– Matthew 19:6

I’m in awe at how the Lord works.

Being married has allowed me to see God in a new way.  I’ve been able to see His hand move in a way that I had never seen before marriage.  I’m constantly in awe to see how the Lord grows us together, how He works in us and through us, and honestly I’m in awe at how well He paired us!  Nothing can be compared to being married to the person that you know God gave especially to you.  By His grace, I waited and got exactly what I wanted- plus some!  I have qualities in my husband that I didn’t even know to ask for because I had never been exposed to them.  I’m in awe at all that the Lord has given me in my husband.

I’m grateful for everything the Lord has done for us in our first 3 years of marriage.

The testings, the lessons, the blessings were all according to His will.  I can honestly say that we’re not the same people that we were when we said I do.  By His grace, we’re better.  We’re stronger.  We’re more like Christ.  Through it all, God has matured us and anchored us more deeply in Him.

As I reflect on 3 years of marriage, I can honestly say it has all been worth it, and the blessing of what we have is still being revealed…

“The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.”

– Paslm 1115:14
