Sometimes we over-complicate praying. You don’t need a college degree to be able to pray to God! Sometimes we don’t feel qualified to pray, or even worthy of praying. Or, like I was before, maybe you simply don’t know how to pray or you don’t feel comfortable praying. Let me help you! Jesus talked a lot about praying while he was on earth. Let me share this: In Matthew 6:6-7 Jesus said: “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not…

All It Takes Is A Day
Last week I needed rides from others, but the Lord blessed me with a car on Monday and I’ve already been able to give 2 people rides! I’m so thankful. This has got me thinking. All it takes is a day: All it takes is a day to be blessed with a car, a deposit into your account, or even a job. All it takes is a day to meet your future spouse. Just one special day. All it takes is a day to pass an exam that entitles you to be a professional. All it takes is a day to give birth. All it takes is a day to…

Tonight I Write From A Thankful Heart: Blessed With a New Car
Tonight I write from a thankful heart. The only 2 things on my mind are praising God and writing. I totaled my car on July 21st, 2013 and today November 4th, 2013 I’ve been granted another one. It has been a very hard 3 months. I’ve cried more than ever before. About to cry as I write. I’ve never felt weaker over such a long span of time. I’ve never felt so much pressure on me. I’ve been so humbled, so changed, so matured. Pride has rolled off of me through the tears that have rolled off my face. My car was a 2007. Now it’s a 1995 and I…

We’re All Waiting For Something: How Are You Waiting?
I read a devotional today titled “Profitable Patience” that got me thinking. The reading focused on waiting- specifically waiting for God and how we’re all waiting for something. It listed the following examples: “We wait in lines; a teenager waits for his or her next birthday; we wait for job promotions; we wait for news from the doctor; we wait for the next meal; we wait for our future spouse..” Life is all about waiting. We’ll always be waiting for something, but this has me contemplating how we are waiting. Are we angry, depressed, stressed, worried, or sad? These natural feelings may occur, but it is definitely not healthy for…

10 Thoughts about “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou
I finished “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou yesterday and I woke up thinking about it again today! A testament to how great it is! 10 Thoughts about “Mom & Me & Mom”: 1. A mother’s love is able to cover her faults and shortcomings. 2. Mothers must admit when they are wrong and ask for forgiveness from their child, just as they would in any relationship. 4. A mother helps shape who her daughter is and who she’ll turn out to be. She receives a part of her identity from her mother. Maya said: “I can hardly distinguish where she stops and I begin.” 3. A…

Book Review: “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou
Wow. “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou reeled me in and would not let me go. It was an incredible read. I gasped for air at times, almost cried, and was left speechless at points. With the exception of 2 chapters, I read this entire book in 1 day. The book captures the journey of the relationship between Maya and her mother. Her mother sent Maya and her brother to live with their grandmother in Arkansas while Maya was only 3. They then reunited with their mother in California while Maya was a young girl. Over time, their relationship developed and blossomed into something extremely beautiful, delicate, and…

BE THANKFUL
We all have those people that are always there, that understand us, forgive us, accept us. Everyone will not get us so we must be thankful for those that do. We’ll also have those that easily misunderstand us, nor do they forgive us. They may not even allow us the opportunity to express ourselves. Some people want us to be something we’re not. Some even think we are something we’re not. Sometimes we are exactly who they say we are, sometimes we’re not. We have to be thankful for those people that get us, understand us, accept us. We’re all imperfect creatures, yet we’re not always accepted. We have to…

BOOK REVIEW: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE”
Oh my goodness! This book is amazing! I am an avid reader, but some books are superior to others! This book is definitely above average: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE” by Dr. Henry Cloud. It has me in awe! It’s made me cry, stop to digest the information, and practically tell everyone in conversation about how good it is! Yes it’s that good! A few key points: – Those who succeed in life cannot ignore their hearts, minds, and souls. – Take appropriate risks. There is very little growth and reward in life without taking risks. Avoidance of risk is the greatest risk of…

The Last Shall Be First: Be Ok Being Last
Most of the time in our lives, we’re not where we want to be. We look around and think that others are much further in life than we are. They may have degrees, be married, have nicer cars, more money, and all that good stuff. Often times we think that we are last. We think that we could never be on top. Consider this for a moment… In the Bible, the disciples of Jesus were discussing who was the greatest. Jesus questioned them about this and they all kept quiet, not wanting to tell Him about their discussion. “And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them,…
