What are you committed to? by Margo Woodward

What are you committed to?

Do you ever take time to consider your commitments?  What are you committed to?

What are your priorities?  What’s important to you?  What are you committed to no matter what comes your way?

If we are to make real progress in life, we must be committed.

We can’t be just committed to anything, nor should we have to sit and ponder what our #1 commitment should be.

Our #1 commitment must be to God.

This morning as I’m reflecting on where I am and where I’m headed, I’m extremely aware that my progress in life is only a result of my commitment to God.

Prioritizing our relationship with Jesus Christ has a way of impacting everything else in our lives.  Prioritizing and balancing all of our responsibilities in life is not easy, but it is well worth it.

Proper prioritization has a way of making life easier.

When we commit to God above everything else, He has a way of equipping us to do things that we could never do without Him.  As we keep God #1 in our lives, He has a way of allowing us to see everything more clearly.  As we remain committed to following Christ despite what comes our way, He guides us through life navigating us around the traps & snares that are set all around us.

You see, all of us are faced with distractions throughout life.  Life is full of distractions, but as we commit to God above everything else He allows us to see things for what they really are.

What are you committed to?

I encourage you to take some time today to consider your commitments.  Ask yourself:

  • What do I spend my time doing?
  • Am I making real progress in life?
  • Where am I headed right now?
  • What kind of person am I?
    • What do I stand for?
    • What do I value?
    • Who am I?

We all only get 1 chance at life.  Let’s do our best to make the most of it, and the only way to do that is to commit to God above everything else.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Have not I commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

– Joshua 1:8-9
