    10 Thoughts About Me & About Life @ 2:00 a.m.

Hello there!  I’m up late & feel like writing, so let me share 10 thoughts about me & about life @ 2:00 a.m. Here goes! 1. I feel strong.  The battles that I’ve faced throughout life have undoubtedly strengthened me in many, many ways.  I do know that I’m still continuing to grow and develop as a woman, but I also know that I’m stronger than I’ve ever been before. 2. I feel capable.  Even with multiple responsibilities on my plate, I know that I’m capable to handle it all.  I  also know that I’m capable to handle the things to come. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth…

    Stop Fighting Like That

Every battle is not yours to fight.  Often times, we’re stressed because we try to physically fight every battle that comes our way.  I’m here to encourage you today: Stop fighting like that. Explanations and proclamations are not always best.  Some people will have an issue with you regardless of what you do.  Don’t succumb to the pressures of trying to get everyone to understand you. People lying on you?  It’s not always meant for you to explain your side of the story.  This is a sure way of wasting all of your energy, instead of investing it on issues that truly matter.  Instead of fighting back, trust God.  Allow…

    15 Lessons I Learned in 2015

Another year is coming to a close, so I’ll share my top lessons from the year. 15 Lessons I Learned in 2015: 1. If you don’t quit, you can.  I got pregnant my final year of college & I know many doubted me.  Momentarily I did, myself.  But I didn’t quit and I did it.  We gave birth to Keziah via c-section on April 1st and was back in class (in the front row) a week later.  I graduated with my bachelor’s, with honors, on May 9th.  I didn’t quit and I did it. 2. Crying is okay.  For me, it’s inevitable.  Nowadays I don’t run from it.  I cry…

SET BIG GOALS: Time Moves Regardless

What are you doing with your time?  Sometimes we’re afraid to set big goals due to the amount of time they will take, but we must remember that time moves regardless. When you determine what you are doing with your time, you will understand what you are doing with your life.  A few years ago, when I was considering law school,  I read something that has stuck with me.  It basically said: 3 years is going to come anyway.   At that point my thinking shifted from saying: “law school will take too long” to “I want to do whatever the Lord’s will is for me to do.”  It was a complete…

    Graduate College vs. Regular College

Yesterday I finished a 15 page, 10 question exam.  Today, I printed a 12 page study guide for a final exam that will cover everything we’ve covered this semester.  As I’m completing another semester of grad school, I’ll share my perspective on graduate college vs. regular college: There’s a more complex admittance process.  It’s not difficult, there’s just more to do.  You have to apply, submit all transcripts, submit references, and take the GRE.  The GRE is somewhat challenging (at least the math part for me), but it won’t dictate your acceptance.  Some schools value it more than others.  Prepare as much as you can and just do your best.  The…

Feeling down?  10 Tips to Uplift Yourself

Feeling down?  We’re all human and have those moments when we feel down.  Sometimes we don’t even know why we’re feeling down, but that’s okay we just have to be intentional about lifting ourselves back up.  10 Tips When You’re Feeling Down: 1. Pray.  Talk to God.  Be honest with Him and tell Him your thoughts & feelings.  He knows them anyway, but it helps us to get it off our chest.  Ask Him for help where you need it. 2. Drink. I’m not talking about alcohol.  Try hot tea, cold water, refreshing juice, or anything else that uplifts your soul.  Drink something to refresh your body.  Maybe even a…

REAL LIFE: Family can sometimes equal foe

The first murder recorded in history was the murder of Abel.  You know the story.  Abel was killed by his brother Cain (Genesis 4:8).  Why did he murder him?  Family can sometimes equal foe. Take a look at Genesis 4:4-5:  “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.  And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.  And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.” Cain was jealous of his brother Abel. The Lord, knowing the heart of Cain, warned him: “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?…

5 Reasons not to care what people think about you

We live in a world where it’s easy to become obsessed with how other people feel about us.  In this post, I share 5 reasons not to care what people think about you.  Being overly concerned with how others feel about you is a sure way to keep you in bondage- preventing you from being all that Christ created you to be. 5 Reasons not to care what people think about you: 1. It creates fear.   When you are too concerned with what people think about you, you become afraid to do what’s truly best for you.  You are fearful of how they will respond, what they will think,…

    Don’t sweat the small stuff

How many times in a day does something frustrate you?  If your days are like mine then they are filled with many surprising, unexpected events that try to throw you off.  If you are going to do all that Christ created you to do, here is something that you must remember: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Think about all that comes your way in a day: That conversation, that disobedient child, the traffic, school work, a rude boss, an unexpected bill, car problems, and the list goes on.  There’s always something trying to distract us, but we have to learn to not sweat the small stuff. How do we not sweat…

LIFE: Know Right & Do Right

Most of the time we know what’s right, but it can be much harder to do what’s right.  If we want to enjoy the blessed life, we must know right & do right. Sometimes, knowing is the easy part.  Implementing what we know, however, can be more challenging.  Or, is it possible that we make it more difficult than it really is?  Doing the right thing can certainly be more difficult than doing what’s natural or what we would prefer, but in addition to that we also have a tendency to make things more difficult than they really are. We have to get to a point of realizing that our…
