BOOK REVIEW: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE”

Oh my goodness!  This book is amazing!  I am an avid reader, but some books are superior to others!  This book is definitely above average: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE” by Dr. Henry Cloud. It has me in awe!  It’s made me cry, stop to digest the information, and practically tell everyone in conversation about how good it is!  Yes it’s that good!  A few key points: – Those who succeed in life cannot ignore their hearts, minds, and souls. – Take appropriate risks.  There is very little growth and reward in life without taking risks.  Avoidance of risk is the greatest risk of…

    Step Away

Sometimes we have to step away so things can work out. We have to quit working, and let God do His work. Sometimes a step back can move us a step further. Letting go can also mean gaining. Stepping back always feels like a loss, but huge gains often come after huge losses. Take a step away and rest.  Rest your mind, your will, your emotions. Resting boosts productivity. Take a step away.  Chill.  Creativity is at its best when we’re rested.  Not stressed. Step away and let it go.  What God has for you will not change because you step away. Trust more, work less.  Step away.  What’s yours…

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions: Your Life is a Result of Your Decisions

It’s so easy to subconsciously place your life in someone else’s hands, however, we must be intentional to make the best decisions for our lives.  We must make decisions that will move our lives forward. We often trust, rely on, and hope that others are looking out for our best interest. Sometimes they are, sometimes they’re not.  Sometimes they’re not even making the best decisions for themselves.  So why would we expect them to make the right decisions for us? We must always take control of our lives.  Logic, not emotions must rule our decisions. Emotions are unreliable.  They make you feel good, yet they can ultimately destroy you. They…

4 Things That Christians Should NOT Be

Lately I’ve been very sensitive and observant to the interactions that I have been having with some fellow Christians.  Yes, I get it, no one’s perfect; but I have been noticing a few things that should rarely be observed from Christians. I do believe that it’s very easy to ‘drift’ or even subconsciously do things.  We have to be aware of our ways, our motives, and most importantly our hearts. Here are 4 Things Christians Should NOT Be: 1. Christians should not be critical of others. – While on Earth, Jesus was asked: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with…

Be Transparent & Make a Difference

To be transparent means to be free from pretense or deceit.  When we are transparent we are easily detected or seen through, readily understood. How many of us are truly transparent?  How often does pride stop us from sharing something?  How often do we stop ourselves from doing something because of how it may make us ‘look’?   What about this one: What would they think of me? Take some time to consider that. So much of what we do is not an accurate representation of who we truly are.  The world pressures us in ways that we don’t fully realize.  Media, music, and our culture all influence the things we…

    Refined: I Love This Word!

I am in love with this word- refined! I’ve been looking into it since after writing this post, and I recently reviewed the antonyms.  You have to check this out!  If you haven’t already, read the post over the scripture Psalm 66:10.  That’s where it all started. First of all, refined = Free from impurities. Secondly, synonyms of refined = Developed, evolved, forward, higher, improved, progressive, advanced. Thirdly, antonyms of refined = Backward, lower, nonprogressive, retarded, rude, undeveloped. Lastly, the scripture Psalm 66:10 states: “For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.” This word is so powerful to me.  It is a reminder that if I am not tested,…

My Haircut: “I’m Falling More In Love With Myself.”

I got a haircut.  How do I feel? I FEEL free, different, adventurous, BOLD, confident, pretty, and fun.  I feel like everyone is watching me- even when they aren’t.  I am more focused on my face and my natural features.  My eyebrows are defined and standing out.  I feel like I’m living.  I’m experiencing a new experience & new experiences make life worth living.  I care less about hair.  I love the style and I also know it will grow back.  I want to give away clothes and get new ones. I feel less attached to things- temporary, replaceable things.  I want to thrift shop for different pieces- bright, bold,…

    BEAUTY: How-To Discover Yours!

It’s so easy to look at our current, imperfect state and think this is as good as it gets.  We’re discouraged when we fail to see beauty. There are times when weaknesses seem to overshadow strengths and blemishes cover up beauty, leaving us feeling discontent with what we see in ourselves.  We eagerly run to quick-fixes, attempting to cover up and conceal our blemishes.  Instead, we should look within, focusing on our inside, which will inevitably brighten and beautify our outside. Every human being is flawed and far from perfect, yet there are things we can do to grow into the beautiful creatures that God designed us to be.  We…
