MARGO & WORK: I’ve been working 4 jobs

Today is Dec. 23rd and my last post was on Aug. 9th. The reason for the gap? I’ve been working 4 jobs. So much has transpired in my life that it’s hard for me to grab a good starting point. The first thing I can say:

It is so important to discover your purpose in life.

If you don’t know why God placed you here, you will undoubtedly sell yourself short. You will live a life of uncertainty, confusion, unfulfillment, discontentment, and stress; just to name a few! So, let me tell you the 4 jobs I’ve been working:

  1. Principal’s Secretary at our daughters’ elementary school.
  2. Adjunct Professor at our local community college.
  3. Writer, Speaker on my blog.
  4. Licensed Financial Professional.

I’ll share with you all that I will not be renewing my license for the financial position. That was a seasonal position for me and I can say that I am excited about moving forward, just as I was excited to begin the venture.

When we keep God as our center, we can experience joy and peace when arriving, as well as when leaving!

The only way that is possible is by following His leading. There are many, many benefits of being saved and walking with Christ. One that is top of mind now is how He works all things for our good (Romans 8:28). All things.

So, even when we may stray or make a decision that is contrary to His best will for us, He is still able to make it work for us. Isn’t that amazing?! It’s one of His characteristics that demonstrate that He is God. Our God is not limited to our good decisions, He is able to demonstrate His power and ability by working with whatever we have or whatever we do! That just makes me want to shout!

So, in the midst of working those 4 jobs, let me share 5 lessons that I learned:

  1. Money is not everything. Though this world places money on a pedestal, there are many, many things that money cannot touch. For instance, true love, joy, and peace have absolutely nothing to do with money. Actually, I believe that money often damages our true blessings.
  2. Priorities are key. We must, I repeat, we must have priorities in place. We must also realize that even with clear priorities, we will still fall short. Having them, however, and revisiting them can prevent you from turning a small detour into a complete reroute.
  3. Our time is under attack. John 10:10 clearly tells us that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Satan has many, many angles and many, many tricks up his sleeve. We can’t think that his tactics only involve blatant sins such as adultery, immorality, addictions; etc. He also aims to get us to settle for good instead of God’s best. In doing so, he has still stolen from us. Satan meets all of us right where we are and has a tailor-made trick for us with the primary goal of deceiving and destroying. Don’t overlook the importance of your time.
  4. You can’t do everything. When you think about people that have achieved notable achievements in a particular area, most likely you will find that they focused in on that particular area. The more that we commit to, especially in various areas, the more likely that we will not achieve greatness in 1 particular area.
  5. Prioritize & make a decision. I know I mentioned priorities before, but as I close this list, I must hit it again. #2 focuses on priorities and here in #5, I want to bring your attention to prioritizing & decision making. Get your priorities in place, assess them based on the amount of time you have, and then prioritize your priorities and make a decision. Make a decision to allow your time, energy, and gifts better align with the priorities that you know He has for you.

Again:

It is so important to discover your purpose in life.

As we are closing out 2021, I pray that this helps you to really begin to focus in on what’s most important. God has a plan for us all and we all have various distractions that come our way in an effort to keep us from His best for us. Whatever comes, remember that with Him, it’s all good.

As He leads you, keep in mind that your security and identity is in Him and Him alone. That way you can pivot from position to position without feeling a loss. We are not a position, we are children of God, and we are free to do whatever He leads us to- and with Him we can do it all well.

I love ya’ll,
