Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves by trying to do too much too fast. Even when following the leading of God, we often get ahead of ourselves. He gives us a glimpse and we think we see the whole picture, but we don’t. We must learn to take it one step at a time.
Truth is, we don’t even know what tomorrow will bring:
“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
– Proverbs 27:1
We all need God to keep us balanced. Some people do no planning for tomorrow, while others try to plan and control too much! Despite where we are in life, we must learn to trust God and take it day by day- one step at a time.
We have to find a way to enjoy the day, no matter what’s going on, and tend to the work that’s in front of us.
“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.”
– Ecclesiastes 2:24
As we walk with God, there will always be something in front of us to do, but we must learn to take it one step at a time and enjoy the life we have today. We have to enjoy the right now and take everything one step at a time. We can’t have everything all at once and we can’t do everything all at once.
Life is a process and it is full of seasons. We have to learn to follow God’s leading, stay obedient to His voice, and take it all one step at a time.
No matter what our life looks like now, it doesn’t change the fact that Jesus came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). In order to live the life that He has for us, we must keep our eyes on Him, follow Him, and take it one step at a time.
