His Grace Is Enough: His Ways Are Not Our Ways

Sometimes Christ’s perfection can be disheartening.  The longer you walk with Him, study Him, and learn His ways, you stand in awe at His perfection.  Then, when you look at yourself, your ways, and your thoughts you feel as though you’ll never measure up.  You wonder: Why am I still struggling with this?

His Grace Is Enough.

The Bible is filled with imperfect people that God chose to use in spite of their failures.  Recently, I was reminded of Moses who committed murder and was still greatly used by God!  Think about that… Murder?  Really God?

His Ways Are Not Our Ways.

Last night while reading I read this, written by the apostle Paul:

“But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.  And they glorified God in me.”

– Galatians 1:23-24

Paul persecuted the church, yet God still chose to use him.  Wow.

Does that give you hope?  It sure encourages me!  Despite my shortcomings, my mess-ups, my continual falling short (often in the same area), He still chooses to use me.

Despite your shortcomings, your mess-ups, your continual falling short, He still chooses to use you.

Now, that is humbling.  Although the world has conditioned us to think that we are only as good as our performance, God continues to remind us that He loves us, accepts us, and will still choose us despite our mess-ups.

His Ways Are Not Our Ways.

As long as we are living, we will have to fight to do right.  Our flesh wants what is contrary to the Spirit, so the two will constantly war.  Thank God He has us completely covered.  His perfect, powerful Holy Spirit dwells in us giving us everything we need.  We have everything we need in Christ, as His Word is the sword with which we fight (Ephesians 6:17).

No, we won’t always get it right, but we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us (Romans 8:37).  God will never, ever put us in a position to fail.

So, no matter how much we mess up, we must never give up on God.  We must know that He will never, ever give up on us.

“And he said unto me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

– II Corinthians 12:9-10

His grace is sufficient.  He may not take the pain away, but His grace is all we need.  Yes, we are weak, but His power is made perfect in our weakness.  No perfection in us; weakness in us; perfection in Him.

For when we are weak, then we are strong.  Strength comes after weakness.

His Grace Is Enough.
