It’s a new year. How new do you feel? Does your life feel new? Likely not. Though it is a new year, we must begin making adjustments in order to experience the new.
Making Adjustments in the New Year
Many people begin the new year with New Year Resolutions. We create lists of what we want, what we don’t want, or what we want to see change in our lives. This is good and this gives us a starting point, but so often this is all we do. We declare what we want without the follow through of how we’re going to make it happen.
In order to see lasting change, we must focus in on making adjustments.
Making adjustments is the key to change, because this is where we focus on the how. The goal or the desired result that we’re after is merely the what. Again, this is a good start, because we first have to know what we want! Sometimes, this really poses a challenge.
Maybe you’ve gone through so much that now you really don’t know what you want. That’s okay. We all have those times. Just admit that’s the space that you’re in, and press into God for the clarity and vision that you need. A vision, or purpose, for life is extremely necessary.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.“
– Proverbs 29:18
Life is seasonal and we don’t get everything at one time. Our learning throughout life is continual. God takes us through processes and seasons; and we grow in our awareness of Him, of life, and ourselves, as we keep following Him.
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”
– Matthew 16:25
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
– John 8:12
One more:
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
– John 14:6
In Jesus, we have life. We have to truly realize and fully believe that in Him we have everything we need (Psalm 23:1).
As we make the decision to follow Christ through life, He continually levels us up and develops us in every way. The whole purpose of following Him, is to be more like Him. He is perfection. He is everything. He is God and we are God’s children.
His process with His children is perfect. He takes us one step at a time, one issue at a time. This year, in 2022, don’t overwhelm yourself. Simply make the decision to follow Him, trust Him, and allow Him to lead you toward all that He has for you.
As He brings your attention to things that need to change, don’t stop at just the what. Begin to focus in on the how. Take the next step to determine what you will need to do in order to make a lasting change in that area.
Focus on Making Adjustments
As you move forward with this awareness, pray that God will walk with you through the entire process.
Trust the process.
Pray for Him to reveal to you why you do what you do. Pray for Him to open your eyes to the antidote. Ask Him to cleanse your heart and renew your mind so that you may see and walk in His perfect will for your life.
He has a plan for you. Don’t you ever doubt that.
Happy 2022 to you! All the best to you as you focus on Making Adjustments in this New Year!
