Don’t Be So Easily Entangled: 5 TIPS.

If you are going to be all that Christ created you to be, you must stop being so easily entangled in the issues of this world.  If you are going to make lasting progress in life, you can’t be so easily entangled in worthless issues- distracted by problems that aren’t your own.

Don’t Be So Easily Entangled: 5 TIPS.

1. Know your priorities.  This is first and foremost.  If you don’t know your priorities then take some time to identify them.  Take some time to get to know yourself, assess your life, decide what needs to change, and then structure your priorities.

Some things aren’t up for discussion.  Christians must always prioritize their relationship with God first and foremost.  If you are married, next is your marriage.  Our most important priorities deserve our prioritized attention.  Prioritize your priorities.

2. Stay focused.  When you know your priorities it then becomes a task to stay focused on them.  There will always something thrown at you in an attempt to steal your attention from your priorities.  You must rely on wisdom given from God in order to determine if the issue is worthy of your attention.  Don’t be so easily distracted.  It won’t always be sin that attempts to entangle you, you could be distracted by things that appear to be good but isn’t God’s will for you at the moment.  You must rely on God to discern the difference.

3. Say no.  In order to do all the things that God has for you to do you must learn how to say no.  You don’t always owe an explanation, nor should you be focused on appeasing others.  Always have a heart to help others, but not at the expense of losing yourself.  There will be times when you have to say no and those that love and respect you will respect your decisions.

When they don’t respect your decision, don’t make their problem your problem.  You must learn to please God and not people.  It will be practically impossible to fulfill God’s plan for your life without learning how to say no.

“For do I now persuade men, or God?  or do I seek to please men?  for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

– Galatians 1:10

4. Wisdom.  There will be many times in life when we’ll face situations that we’re not sure how to handle.  It’s inevitable that we will be face situations without having a clear answer in sight.  When we face those uncertain situations, we must turn to God.  Ask Him for wisdom.  God is no respector of persons and wisdom is not set aside only for the elite.  James 1:5 tells us:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally…”

Some decisions should only be made by relying on God.  We are limited in what we see and know as humans, but relying on God will ensure success.

5. Follow peace.  God is a God of peace and we know that we are in His will  by the peace that accompanies it.  A sure way of knowing that you are doing something against God’s will is by a lack of peace.  Don’t ignore that.  Follow peace and stay away from situations that steal your peace.

Lastly, don’t stress yourself by attempting to gain wealth and success.  Proverbs 10:22 tells us that God blesses us without added sorrow.  Psalm 37:4 assures us that as we delight ourselves in the Lord; He will give us the desires of our heart.

Don’t be so easily entangled: Know your priorities, stay focused, say no, rely on wisdom, follow peace.  Allow God to navigate you through every situation that you face.  As you do, you will be free to focus on fulfilling the purpose that He has for your life.
