    I’m Back From a 21 Day Break

It feels good to be back from my 21 day break, though I must admit that the break felt good.  We don’t realize how weighed down we are until we let some things go and clear our space. For the past 21 days I have let go of the ‘world’ in a sense, only participating in what’s necessary: work, school, church, parenting, etc.  My phone time was limited and then I completely cut out Facebook.  I feel good. I think we’d all be surprised at how much energy we give to things that truly don’t matter.  Simply put: we waste a lot of time doing nothing.  We can all benefit…

Where have I been??? Let me explain…

Where have I been???  Let me explain.. I’m taking some time to slow down, and even stop doing some things.  I want to start the New Year doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.  I want to be in align with my source- God. I’m starting to learn that the more I slow down and let Him lead me the more effective I am.  This year I want to be effective in everything I do- including writing for my site.  I want to ensure that I’m in tune with my Creator and my purpose.  I want to write what I’m supposed to write, not what will give me the…

  • What is your personality type?

What is your personality type? Learn it & manage it.

It’s amazing how even as Christians our personalities can be an obstacle.  We pray to be Spirit-led, but our personalities oppose that.  Understanding our personality type plays a huge role in walking like Christ. This morning I woke up thinking about how I’ve recently handled a situation.  A particular book came to mind that a church sister gave to me.  It’s titled: “The Spirit-Controlled Woman” by Beverly LaHaye.  An AMAZING read!  It focuses on the different personality types and how they contribute to or undermine us being Spirit-led.  I grabbed it off my book shelf and spent some time reading it this morning. My personality type is a choleric.  I love…

Happy Thanksgiving 2013: What are you thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving all!  I woke up this morning feeling rested, refreshed, at peace, and most of all THANKFUL.  I pray that everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving, and most of all I pray that our hearts are THANKFUL. Although we should always be THANKFUL and aware of our blessings, this is definitely the season to consider all of the things that we have to be THANKFUL for.  So here I go! I am THANKFUL for: GOD, life, new opportunities, new days, abilities, family, love, friends, MARAYA, MARAYA, MARAYA.  Lord, thank you so much for Maraya.  The role she has played in my life is second to Jesus!  I am THANKFUL…

    Do You Ever Think About…

It’s so easy for us to go through life only consumed with self.  Do you ever think about some of the drastic situations that some find themselves in?  Such as children born into impoverished conditions that they have no control over? People that don’t have access to clean water? Mothers with HIV but have no other choice but to continue breastfeeding their babies? Families that do not have a car and have to walk the streets with their children? People that are in prison for life for doing something that others have done, but didn’t get caught for?  Or those that are in prison but wrongly accused? Children that are…

All It Takes Is A Day

Last week I needed rides from others, but the Lord blessed me with a car on Monday and I’ve already been able to give 2 people rides!  I’m so thankful. This has got me thinking.  All it takes is a day: All it takes is a day to be blessed with a car, a deposit into your account, or even a job. All it takes is a day to meet your future spouse.  Just one special day. All it takes is a day to pass an exam that entitles you to be a professional. All it takes is a day to give birth.  All it takes is a day to…

Tonight I Write From A Thankful Heart: Blessed With a New Car

Tonight I write from a thankful heart.  The only 2 things on my mind are praising God and writing. I totaled my car on July 21st, 2013 and today November 4th, 2013 I’ve been granted another one. It has been a very hard 3 months.  I’ve cried more than ever before.  About to cry as I write. I’ve never felt weaker over such a long span of time.  I’ve never felt so much pressure on me. I’ve been so humbled, so changed, so matured. Pride has rolled off of me through the tears that have rolled off my face. My car was a 2007.  Now it’s a 1995 and I…

    BE THANKFUL

We all have those people that are always there, that understand us, forgive us, accept us.  Everyone will not get us so we must be thankful for those that do. We’ll also have those that easily misunderstand us, nor do they forgive us.  They may not even allow us the opportunity to express ourselves. Some people want us to be something we’re not.  Some even think we are something we’re not. Sometimes we are exactly who they say we are, sometimes we’re not. We have to be thankful for those people that get us, understand us, accept us. We’re all imperfect creatures, yet we’re not always accepted. We have to…

BOOK REVIEW: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE”

Oh my goodness!  This book is amazing!  I am an avid reader, but some books are superior to others!  This book is definitely above average: “9 Things You Simply MUST DO to SUCCEED in LOVE and LIFE” by Dr. Henry Cloud. It has me in awe!  It’s made me cry, stop to digest the information, and practically tell everyone in conversation about how good it is!  Yes it’s that good!  A few key points: – Those who succeed in life cannot ignore their hearts, minds, and souls. – Take appropriate risks.  There is very little growth and reward in life without taking risks.  Avoidance of risk is the greatest risk of…

2 Things College Does To Us: Speaking & Thinking

Aug. 12th was my first day at Rogers State University in Claremore, OK and since then I’ve already: completed 2 group projects where we’ve presented information to the class; presented 1 persuasive speech where I’ve proposed that the legal drinking age be raised to 25; participated in class discussions around the stereotypes that north Tulsa carries; wrote a 4 page paper on a communication theory that states that minority opinions are not as openly and confidently shared as the majority opinions are; and I’ve conducted research on prostitution to gather evidence that both supports and rejects prostitution! Pretty intense for only 1 month and 7 days!  Today while in class,…
