Are you speaking negative? Speak Words of Life Over Your Life.

    December 19, 2013

The words we speak play such a huge role in our lives.  We must speak words of life over our lives.  I’m currently reading “I Declare” by Joel Osteen and it addresses how our words affect our lives.  He states that by the words we speak, we are actually prophesying our future. In other words, you are creating your future by the words you are speaking today.  You are bringing either good things or bad things to you by what you say. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”  – Proverbs 18:21 Are you speaking life and goodness over…

    Do You Ever Think About…

    November 22, 2013

It’s so easy for us to go through life only consumed with self.  Do you ever think about some of the drastic situations that some find themselves in?  Such as children born into impoverished conditions that they have no control over? People that don’t have access to clean water? Mothers with HIV but have no other choice but to continue breastfeeding their babies? Families that do not have a car and have to walk the streets with their children? People that are in prison for life for doing something that others have done, but didn’t get caught for?  Or those that are in prison but wrongly accused? Children that are…

10 Thoughts about “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou

    October 17, 2013

I finished “Mom & Me & Mom” by Maya Angelou yesterday and I woke up thinking about it again today!   A testament to how great it is!   10 Thoughts about “Mom & Me & Mom”: 1. A mother’s love is able to cover her faults and shortcomings. 2. Mothers must admit when they are wrong and ask for forgiveness from their child, just as they would in any relationship. 4. A mother helps shape who her daughter is and who she’ll turn out to be.  She receives a part of her identity from her mother.  Maya said: “I can hardly distinguish where she stops and I begin.” 3. A…

    September 26, 2013

Sometimes it’s necessary to take a break from the day.  Some days are easy and smooth, yet others require so much more from us.  So much goes on within a day- various decisions, roles, and daily responsibilities can take us on an emotional rollercoaster.  Our days can get demanding with so much to get done. Some days make us cry, some days make us scream, and some days make us want to quit.  We can’t give in though, we must press on. How do we do this?  Take a break!  Here are 10 Tips: 1. Stop and enjoy ice cream.  No rush.  Take a break.  Enjoy. 2. Pray.  Talk with…

I Cried Today & It Was A Good Thing

    September 18, 2013

I cried today, but not from pain or even sadness.  Just the opposite actually. This evening I had to rehearse a speech at church for a children’s meeting that I’m speaking at.  My daughter, Maraya, was also there and observed all of us practice. Afterward, she whispered to me: “Can I go next?” I asked our Pastor and she said yes so they introduced Maraya. She walked up so confidently and sweetly and said her name.  She actually nervously repeated it just like I did.  🙂 She then began to speak about Jesus. She spoke of how we have to be obedient so He can bless us. She was so eloquent,…
