Being attacked? 5 Ways to Fight Back

Whether we want to face it or not, we all have battles to fight.  If Jesus was hated and crucified (and He was perfect), you better believe that someone is hating on you too.  We’ll all be attacked in one way or another, the key is to fight back the right way.

Being attacked?  5 Ways to Fight Back

1. DON’T RESPOND.  Some people will poke you just to get a reaction out of you.  We have to know when and when not to respond.  This takes intention.  Think about the person and the situation.  Is responding really going to change anything?  I’m big on using my energy wisely.  If you don’t see anything productive coming out of your response it may not be best to respond.

2. THINK. Think about the situation.  How did you get there, how have they treated you before, are there any other issues at play?  It is imperative for you to really take the time to think through the situation.  Don’t just base your response off of once instance.  Many times if we just think through things we will have a deeper understanding, allowing us to make the best decision for us.

3. DO BETTER. This is a big one.  Enemies want us to fail.  They scheme, plot, and try to set traps for us.  One of the best things we can do is focus on ourselves and not on them.  Handle your business, be wise with your words and your time, and just do better.  Don’t let enemies discourage you, but rather let them motivate you to do better.

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.  Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”

– Psalm 37:1-3

4. PRAY. Get quiet.  Seek the Lord.  Read His Word and pray.  Spend time with Him and allow Him to guide you.  He will show you wayy more than you could ever realize on your own.  Think about how He has rescued others from their enemies.  He rescued David from Saul, Daniel from the lion’s den, and He’s not done rescuing His children.  Daniel’s story is very encouraging.  His enemies conspired to change the law to set him up to fail, but even that didn’t work!  I’ve learned that when you stay in right relationship with the Lord and keep a pure heart you will never lose.

5. LET IT GO!  Don’t carry junk, hurts, and betrayals with you.  Don’t get stuck.  Don’t even allow your mind to worry about people or situations that are against you.   This is unproductive and the enemy’s goal.  Satan will use anything and anyone he can to prevent you from moving forward in God.  You must be determined to forget those things which are behind so that you can more forward free in Christ.  Besides, you won’t get very far carrying a lot of junk with you.  Deal with it & let it go!

No matter where we are in life, we will always have battles to face. The sooner we adjust our mind for battle, the better off we’ll be. When you’re being attacked, don’t give in and simply react. Fight back the right way.
