Avoiding Pitfalls & Distractions in Life

If we are going to achieve anything worthwhile and fulfill the plans that God has for our lives, we must learn how to focus. A major key of remaining focused is in our ability to avoid pitfalls & distractions in life. Distractions are apart of life. No one is exempt. The key is to spot them for what they are and remain focused on your priorities.

I’ve written several blog posts on remaining focused:

The ability to focus is key, yet another area to be aware of is:

Avoiding Pitfalls & Distractions in Life

In order to focus and keep our energies where they need to be, we must be able to spot the common pitfalls & distractions in life. I believe there are common pitfalls that try to get us all. I’m currently reading a Bible Plan and the writer explained that her three greatest distractions always seem to be:

Situations, People, & Enemies.

If we are going to focus on what truly matters in life, we must ask God for wisdom so we can see situations, people, & enemies for what they truly are. Lately, I’ve been praying for the Lord to protect me from identifiable and unidentifiable enemies.

Do you realize that you have unidentifiable enemies?

Things are not always what they seem. I understand that, so it motivates me to walk humbly before my God, allowing Him to navigate me through the many pitfalls in life. Only God can reveal to us situations as they really are.

This morning I read James 1:5:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

If we think we know it all, see it all, have it all, we are only deceiving ourselves. Only God knows all, sees all, and completely understands all. The more we rely on Him, the more aware we become of what’s really going on.

If you wonder why you are unable to progress in life, maybe you are repeatedly running into the same pitfalls & distractions.

With God, there is a better way. I Corinthians 10:13 tells us:

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

He comforts us in Psalm 23:4:

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

He reassures us in Romans 8:28 and Romans 8:31:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31

No matter the pitfall or distraction, we have absolutely nothing to fear. We have a God who promises to never leave us, nor forsake us. He promises to grant us wisdom generously as we ask Him. He assures us that He will work all things for our good.

The pitfalls & distractions may be there, yet we have a God who through His perfect wisdom can successfully navigate us through anything that aims to deceive or destroy us.

So, in Jesus’ name we can humbly say: Come what may.
