A Constant Reminder by Margo Woodward

A Constant Reminder

We all need reminders.  We make notes, we use to-do lists, we set alarms all because we realize that we can’t remember everything.  Do you realize that as Christians we have a constant reminder?

The Holy Spirit is a constant reminder.

I’m so thankful that when Jesus left the earth He didn’t leave us alone.  He is still here, dwelling in us, by way of His Holy Spirit.  His Holy presence is so real and ever-present.

I’m so grateful that He constantly reminds me.

I realize that I can’t make it through a day depending on my own strength, my own intellect, my own understanding.  I need Him.  Desperately.  Constantly.

The more I grow in Him the more I realize I need Him.

Even that statement goes against my natural reasoning ability.  Naturally, we think that the more we grow the less dependant we become, but this is just not the case with God.  The more we grow in Him the more we recognize His holiness & our neediness; which moves us to rely on Him and humble ourselves under His mighty hand (I Peter 5:6).

It’s a beautiful process.

I encourage you to allow the Holy Spirit to be your constant reminder.

When you want to go there, remember that He is your peace (John 16:33).  When you feel like you can’t, remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).  When you feel like hating, love (Ephesians 5:2).  When you feel like getting even, remember that the only way to overcome evil is with good (Romans 12:21).

When you feel like giving up, think about the cross.  Christ carried His cross, now we have to carry ours (Matthew 16:24).  When you wonder why you’re suffering, remember that you only suffer if need be (I Peter 1:6).  When you don’t understand, remember to not rely on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).  When you feel that today is a bad day, remember that today is a blessed day simply because He made it (Psalm 118:24).

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

– Psalm 118:24

Enjoy your day.  You have everything you need (Psalm 23:1).  Allow the Holy Spirit to be your constant reminder.

With love,
