5 Things to do When You Feel Like Quitting

What do you do when you feel like quitting? We all have those times in life when we get tired. Those times when it feels like we’re working hard for nothing. What do you do in those times? Even though we may feel like quitting, we’re not supposed to give in to those feelings.

5 Things to do When You Feel Like Quitting

1. Take a Break.

Sometimes we’ve been working so hard for so long that we just simply need to take a break. This can look different for each of us, but the key is to take a break so you can gain perspective.

2. Reflect.

It will sometimes feel as if you aren’t getting anywhere, but I guarantee if you reflect on where you are and where you’ve come from, you will actually see that you hard work is paying off. We can become impatient and ungrateful at times, but taking the time to reflect will allow us to thank God for where we’re at- while continuing to trust Him to carry us on.

3. Read.

I’ve become able to notice the signs within myself when I need to read a good book. I may feel uninspired, unfulfilled, or simply that I need to learn from someone on a particular topic. This quote has been speaking to me so much lately:

“The habits you created to survive will no longer serve you when it’s time to thrive. Get out of survival mode. New habits, new life.”

4. Consider.

Take some time to consider a new perspective. Why might things be the way they are? What is God teaching you in this season? Is there something you need to change? Perhaps, God is not concerned with the results that drive us. God’s ways and thoughts are much higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). We must take the time to consider God’s perspective while on our life journey.

5. Keep at it.

The one thing you cannot do when you feel like quitting is quit. When you feel like it, you must take the time to deal with those feelings and ask yourself: Where will quitting get me?

Though our frustrations urge us to quit, quitting won’t bring us back the results we desire. When you feel like quitting, I urge you to:

  1. Take a break.
  2. Reflect.
  3. Read.
  4. Consider
  5. Keep at it.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Galatians 6:9
