Living With Well-Defined Priorities

How are things going for you? What are you focusing on? Lately, I’ve been really focused on prioritizing my priorities. You know it’s very easy for us to say we prioritize something, yet neglect it at the same time. We must begin living with well-defined priorities.

What are your priorities?

Have you considered your priorities lately? Maybe the seasons have changed and so have your priorities. I encourage you to take a few moments to list them out. Sometimes things are added to our plate and we fail to realize that it causes a shift in our attention and energy.

As I was driving the kids to school this morning, I was humbled just thinking about the various life situations that we’re all in. We all start out with dreams and aspirations, yet life begins to happen and if we’re not careful we’ll find ourselves just going with the flow or altogether giving up.

I get it: life is not easy.

We cannot avoid troubles in life. Jesus assured us that we would experience trials and tribulations in this world.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

We can’t prioritize our way out of troubles, so even in our prioritizing there is humility. We realize that we can’t escape trials, but thank God we have the One on our side who has overcome the world! Living with well-defined priorities will help us to see God’s perspective in the situations that we face.

As we prioritize and tend to our priorities, we demonstrate that we trust God. We trust His way and His order, better than we trust our own. We know that He knows best. God sees and knows much more than our feeble minds could even begin to understand.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

We must trust Him.

As time is so quickly moving, I encourage you to take some time today to really begin to focus on your priorities. Stick to His order and trust Him to bless your obedience to His way. God has so much for us all, we just have to go through Him to get to it. For He knows the plans that He has for us (Jeremiah 29:11).
