It Is What It Is

Have you ever found yourself in a situation or dealing with someone and you find yourself questioning what it is?  You feel a certain way, but you’re not sure if you’re right.  You think you see something within them, but you won’t let yourself believe it.  It’s easy to make excuses, justify, or reason why it couldn’t be what it feels like it is.  Well, I’m coming to understand that most of the time: It is what it is.

We have a hard time accepting the things that we see in people that differ from us.  For instance, it can be hard to believe that someone could take advantage of us so badly.  We think: How could anyone ever do that?  We may ask ourselves: If this person doesn’t like me why would they keep talking to me?

Oh, I’m learning many reasons.  This is why it’s so important for us to rely on the spirit of God for His sight and discernment.  He will show us things that we would never be able to see on our own.

We can’t see what we don’t identify with.

We have to trust Him, acknowledge Him in all of our ways and allow Him to direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6).  As we do this, He directs our paths taking everything into consideration- even those things that we cannot see.  There is so much spiritual activity going on all around us.  Some the Lord allows us to see, most we can’t.  We can’t handle seeing everything, but this is why we trust God to lead our paths and keep us safe.

Proverbs 26 provides much wisdom & insight:

“Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.  Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.  A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.”

– Proverbs 26:26-28

People are not always what they seem.

They may try to appear a certain way, but God will allow us to see them for who they really are.  You see, there are some people who flatter you in an attempt to get close to you just so they can hurt you.

Don’t live in denial.  It is what it is.

Consider Judas.  He betrayed Jesus with a kiss.  A kiss.  He was apart of His circle, and right before he turned Jesus over to those who hated Him, he kissed Him.  That’s bold.  Evil is bold.

Though it’s really rooted in fear, insecurity, and envy; it can be oh so bold.  It’s so bold that if we’re not led by the Spirit, we’ll miss it.

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”

– Proverbs 27:6

Don’t be misled, don’t be deceived, and don’t allow your emotions to lead you.  Emotions will blind you & lead you into trouble.  Depend on the wisdom found in God’s Word.

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

– Proverbs 22:3

As we are led by the Lord, we worry about nothing.

Enemies may be all around us, but we aren’t moved by them.  We aren’t distracted; we aren’t afraid; we don’t even focus on them.  Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil.  He is with us, he comforts us, and He will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23:4-5).

It is what it is.
