Have you ever wanted something or even prayed for something, but then just as quickly doubted? Thoughts like: Well it may not happen or that’s probably too much creep into our heads and prevent us from fully believing. We must believe without a doubt.
No Doubt. Only Faith.
Doubt is a form of fear and we must put a stop to it. We must spot it first because it tries to be oh so sneaky.
When I read of those that were healed by Jesus it was always about their faith. One thing that seemed to consistently irritate Jesus was a lack of faith- Doubt, unbelief, fear. They all prevent us from fully believing so it is imperative that we deal with the root issue.
With Jesus, everything is about our faith. Our salvation comes by faith and it certainly doesn’t stop there. With Him, we must learn to walk by faith (II Cotinthians 5:7). Doubt has no place with believers in Jesus Christ.
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
– Hebrews 11:6
Doubt tries to rise up and prevent us from holding what’s already ours through Christ. It’s already ours, we just have to exercise our faith in order to hold it.
Doubt takes, faith gives. Doubt wonders, faith believes. Doubt hinders us, faith heals us.
“And he said unto her, ‘Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
– Luke 8:48
She was healed because of her faith.
Just faith. Faith all by itself is enough. We often think we aren’t enough, like we need to do more, but all we need is faith!
This woman lived 12 years with an issue of blood. The Bible tells us that she spent all of her living on doctors- and none of them could heal her (Luke 8:43). But, God.
She had an encounter with the One who made the doctors. I’m in awe at her faith. She didn’t give up, she didn’t give in, she didn’t settle. She held on to her faith. Her faith prevented her from simply laying in the bed, wallowing in her issue. Nope, she got up, got out, and went running to the One whom she put her faith in.
No Doubt. Only Faith.
I encourage you to no longer doubt, no longer fear, but to take everything to Him in faith. We must keep in mind, however, that God is not to be confused with a genie, in which we get all of ours wishes granted. He is a sovereign God who knows all things, and takes all things into consideration when receiving our requests.
We must learn to trust and respect His sovereignty, realizing that He knows what’s best for us. Honestly, we must grow to trust His judgment more than we trust our own!
As we do, this will enable us to follow-up all of our requests with: Lord, thy will be done.
We must trust Him to do what’s best for us. Whether we get what we want or not, we have to know that He has our best interest at heart. Let’s decide to do our part and trust Him (Proverbs 3:5), doing everything in faith & nothing in fear.
No doubt. Only faith.
