The Last Shall Be First: Be Ok Being Last

Most of the time in our lives, we’re not where we want to be.

We look around and think that others are much further in life than we are.  They may have degrees, be married, have nicer cars, more money, and all that good stuff.  Often times we think that we are last.  We think that we could never be on top.

Consider this for a moment…

In the Bible, the disciples of Jesus were discussing who was the greatest.  Jesus questioned them about this and they all kept quiet, not wanting to tell Him about their discussion.

“And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, ‘If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all” (Mark 9:35).

This can be very hard to process.  The world tells us to be the best.  Be on top.  Be served.  Be the greatest at all costs, but Jesus says just the opposite.

The world’s way is completely opposite of God’s way.

Be ok being last.  Don’t think you will ALWAYS be last.  There is a time for everything, and just because you are last now does not mean you will always be last.  Matthew 20:16 tells us:

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.”

Be confident in whatever position you’re in.

You may be last now, but you could end up being first.  Don’t let the world tell you otherwise.

With love,
