Are you living right now? I mean really living. Are you enjoying your life? So often we rush through life, waiting for the next big thing, that we are not really living in the now. Whether we realize this or not, our desire for more keeps us in a continual state of dissatisfaction. We must learn how to live right now. We must choose to live right now.
Today I am exactly 6 days away from turning 34 and I’m not excited about it. Actually, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed and discouraged because I haven’t completed a major project that I wanted to be done with before my birthday. Why haven’t I completed it?
I’ve been living. Enjoying the blessings that God has blessed me with. You see, life is not one-dimensional. In order to live effectively, we must learn to live balanced.
There are many aspects of living well and we must allow the Holy Spirit to lead us so that we don’t neglect our priorities.
What are your priorities?
Throughout this year, this 33rd year of my life, a few words have been monumental: priorities, routines, planning.
As I approach the end of this year of life, I find that the Lord is moving me into a place of reflection. As bad as I desire to work, work, work and see how much more I can accomplish this year; I feel Him moving me toward Him.
In Him, there is rest, peace, and trust. I’m letting go of rush, stress, and worry. It felt good just to type that. I’m continuing to learn how to live right now.
I encourage you as well: Choose to live right now.
Don’t throw in the towel, don’t settle, don’t become stagnant. Instead, rest in Him, trust in Him, and let your heart fill with gratitude for all that He has already done. Be thankful for all that He has already given you.
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
– Psalm 37:3-4
