Every day the fight is on.

As Christians we are blessed, forgiven, redeemed, yet we still have to fight.  Every day.

The sayings: Nobody’s life is perfect, everybody’s fighting some kind of battle, fight for what’s yours all imply that we’re fighting.  I’m learning that as Christians we have to fight daily.

We have 3 enemies: Our flesh, the world, and of course Satan.

It seems that at all times 1 of the 3 is throwing a punch. The fight is always on.  The spiritual realm is always active, and the more we learn (help us, Lord) the more we have to fight.  The more we learn, the more of a threat we pose to our enemies so the harder they come.  It makes sense because the more we grow in Christ the more work we can do for Him and this is exactly what our enemy fights against.  It’s really not personal, it’s spiritual.  It’s all about stopping the work of Christ.

Satan wants to take our joy, the world promises us everything our heart desires, and our flesh simply prevents us from walking like Christ.

Every day it’s a fight.  Every day.

Why is it on Monday morning we’re not overflowing with strength and joy from Sunday’s Word?  Most often it’s just the opposite.  We feel drained, irritated, and discouraged.  The thief cometh to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).  Jesus even explained that Satan comes to steal the Word from us:

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.  Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.”  – Luke 8:11-12

We have to hold on to the Word.  We have to hold on to our faith.  We have to hold on to our peace and our joy.  We have to fight for what’s ours.

Every day the fight is on.

Are you fighting?  In order to win in battle, we have to be prepared to fight.  If we’re not aware that we’re in a fight, no wonder the devil is taking our joy, hope, and strength.  We have to fight to hold on to what is already ours through Christ.  I’m learning that nothing worth having will come easy- not even the abundant life that Jesus died for us to live (John 10:10).

We have to fight for it.

The beautiful thing is that as Christians, there will come a time when we will no longer have to fight:

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, that ye may be also.”  – John 14:3

One day we will be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and there will be no more crying, no more fighting.

Until then, the fight is on.  Every day.
