So easily entangled…

Don’t be so easily entangled in sin.  Don’t be so easily entangled in worthless issues.  Don’t be so easily entangled in problems that aren’t your own.

A sure way of not achieving the things that you were created to achieve is to get entangled in the wrong things.  How do we not get so easily entangled?

Know your priorities.  This is first and foremost.  If you don’t know your priorities then take some time to identify them.  Take some time to get to know yourself, look at your life, decide what needs to change, and then structure your priorities.  Some things are not up for discussion.  Christians must always prioritize their relationship with God.  If you are married, next is your marriage.  Our most important priorities get priority and attention.  Give your most important things the first and best of your time and attention.  Prioritize your priorities.

Stay focused.  When you know your priorities it becomes a task to stay focused on them.  There is always something thrown at you that tries to get your attention, but you have to determine if that is worthy of your attention.  Don’t be so easily distracted.  It won’t always be sin that will entangle you, but some things just aren’t for you.  Something could appear to be right, but could be wrong for you right now.  Stay focused.

Say no.  In order to do all the things that God has for you to do you must learn to say no.  You don’t always owe an explanation, nor should you be focused on appeasing others.  Always have a heart to do and help, but not at the expense of losing yourself.  There will be times that you have to say no and those that love and respect you will respect your decisions. If they don’t, that is not your problem and don’t allow anyone to make their problem your problem.  We all have our own problems to solve. Sometimes you will have to say no & that is okay.

Wisdom.  There will be many times that we will not know what to do.  We will be faced with situations when we don’t know which way to turn.  When we face those situations, we must turn to God.  Ask Him for wisdom.  God is no respector of persons and wisdom is not set aside only for the elite.  James 1:5 tells us “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally…”  Some decisions should only be made by relying on God.  We are limited in what we see and know as humans, but relying on God will ensure success.

Follow peace.  God is a God of peace and we know that we are in His will and doing what He wants us to do by the peace that accompanies it.  A sure way of knowing that you are doing something or are somewhere that you shouldn’t be is because you have no peace. Don’t ignore that.  Follow peace and stay away from situations that steal your peace.

Don’t be so easily entangled in things that add no value to your life.  Stay focused.  Your life depends on it.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”  – James 1:12
