You Control Your Mind.

In life we often find ourselves trying to control everything around us.  Our mate, our children, our friends, or even our family members.  You may not think you’re trying to control, but how do you respond when things don’t go your way?  Instead of trying to control situations, let’s try to focus on controlling our mind.

Our mind is such a powerful force, yet we must control it to make it work for us and not against us.  Where our thoughts go everything else will follow.  Our emotions follow our mind.  Our actions follow our mind.  Our beliefs, attitudes, and even self esteem are directed by our mind.

We can have everything in the world but if our mind isn’t effectively controlled then we won’t be happy.  I have found that sometimes the more you receive in life the more your mind is attacked.  So what does that mean?  The more you receive in life the more you must grow to manage it all.  The Bible says:

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” – Luke 12:48

When you find your mind going somewhere that isn’t healthy, stop it!  You control your mind- don’t let it control you.  Recently, I found my mind trying to get me to follow it down a negative path, but I stopped myself & thought:

Know the truth and stand on it.

For me, this starts with the Word of God.  Secondly, when it comes to situations I must think about the facts, not how I feel.  The truth, or as close to it as I can get without distoring it in my mind, is what I must seek to stand on.  Through  all of this, we must acknowledge that our minds are corrupted by sin so they can’t be fully trusted.

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” – Romans 8:6

When your mind tries to send you down a negative path, as it so often does, I encourage you to do the same.

Know the truth and stand on it.  And in those situations when you don’t know the truth, accept that.  Don’t try to create it in your mind.  Acknowledge that you don’t know everything, but trust that it will all work out.

You Control Your Mind.
