Life is complex. We’re pulled in so many directions, simultaneously. One thing that I feel makes life more challenging is losing sight of our priorities. It is so important to know our priorities and refocus on them when we feel ourselves losing control.
For any Christian I feel it is imperative to know that our #1 priority has to be our relationship with Christ. I know that I can’t be the wife that I need to be if I’m not cherishing my relationship with Christ. He is my rock. Not my husband.
Parenting, careers, time for self, etc. all has it’s proper place in our life. The key is putting everything in it’s proper place. Also, it’s important to know that priorities will change over time (with the exception of Christ of course) and we have to know when to remove, adjust, or add priorities.
Merriam-Webster defines a priority as something that is more important than other things and that needs to be done or dealt with first. Priorities are important and as we prioritize we are saying that this is more important than that. There is nothing wrong with prioritizing, and those that love us should respect our priorities. Prioritizing your life is about you, not pleasing others.
So, what are your priorities? What do you need to focus on that you maybe have been overlooking? What have you been neglecting?
The beautiful things is that we are blessed with a new day to refocus and and shift our focus toward our priorities.
