College: Time Management & Prayer Sustain Me!

College girl

It’s 10:50 p.m. and sleep is still not next on the agenda. What a day. I have no complaints though, it’s been very productive- everything seemed to fall in place. There was a time when I wanted to plan EVERYTHING, and the moment something didn’t fall through I’d get upset. Now I know better.

I started the day with a prayer- thanking the Lord for waking me up and asking for his assistance throughout the day. With so much on my plate I knew I’d need him. I knew that if I did my part that EVERYTHING would fall into place.

And it did. Everything flowed gracefully.

The only thing that irked me was that I wanted to write (you know writing makes me happy) and there were several ideas that I came to me, but I was too busy to stop and write! At this point, it’s now 10:54 p.m. and I’m forcing myself to sit and write.

Let me share my day with you:

7:15 a.m. – I forced myself to start attempting to get up. Thanked God for waking me up and asked for his assistance while I wrapped my head around everything I knew I had to do today.

7:30 a.m. – Roll over and grab my Public Administration to make more progress on my reading. (The quiz was due today @ 7:00 p.m.)

8:00 a.m. – Jump up, turn music on, hop in shower, as I think of what I wanted to wear for the day. My mind was on comfy and cute. I decided on a casual dress with red Converses.

9:00 a.m. – Start my day at work and half-heartedly listen to customers as I simultaneously work on homework.

12:30 p.m. – Take off from work so I can write a paper (also due at 7:00 p.m.) and complete the quiz.

1:45 p.m. – Receive the recommendation letter from a professor that I’d been waiting on. This was making me nervous because the deadline for the internship is tomorrow! I even reached out to another professor just in case, but it came through at perfect timing.

2:00 p.m. – Drive to RSU, which is 30 minutes away to pick up the recommendation letter and my official transcript.

3:25 p.m. – Arrive back at work with 5 minutes to spare.

6:00 p.m. – Head back to RSU for night class Intro to Public Administration.

9:00 p.m. – Leave RSU to go pick up Maraya from her dads.

10:00 p.m. – Stop at Braum’s and give in to Maraya’s request for a strawberry shake. (Hey, I haven’t seen her all day. Leave me alone.) I also grabbed me a burger. Did I mention the only things I ate today were: yogurt, Girl Scout cookies, and trail mix?

10:30 p.m. – Get Maraya in bed. Laugh and pray with her, then kiss her goodnight.

10:50 p.m. – Sit and write this.

SEE WHAT I MEAN?!? TODAY HAS BEEN EXTREMELY PRODUCTIVE!

2 things to hear from this:

1. College is not easy.

2. Time management and prayer sustain me!  🙂

  1. Okay so I absolutely love to write but I never know what to write about. What advice would you give someone who is great at writing but is so self conscious in what everyone else would think about what she writes and how she writes?

    1. WOW! Thats a really great question! I absolutely love writing too, as you know, but it’s not always appropriate to share everything we write. I’m just learning this. There are things that I write in my personal journal that I will not post on my website. Also, I just read something yesterday that may help you. This book said: Write to connect. Think about that. If what you are writing will connect with others share it. Will it help anyone? Will it help others feel good about themselves? Those are questions to ask yourself when thinking about writing. Another thing to remember is that you will always feel nervous when trying something new. I was very nervous too when I first setup my website! I would review, review, review before I actually posted something! It gets easier as you keep doing it, just like anything else! 🙂
