This morning I sat to read the Bible, and this scripture jumped out at me.
“Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.” – 1 Corinthians 10:24.
Immediately I thought of an idea that I had recently pondered- an idea that would benefit me. I’m not sure I focused enough attention on the other party involved. I was more focused on making sure it was good for me.
This scripture is a mind-changer. How often do we place the needs of others above ourselves? We are molded to focus on ourselves. Our culture has trained us to be somewhat selfish.
That’s why the Word of God is so powerful. His Word, His scriptures, His promises very often go against what the world teaches us. The Word reconditions our minds.
I will meditate on this scripture all day. I’m sure other situations will arise and I will be able to use a less self-centered approach to address them.
As humans we are naturally selfish. We must battle that and focus our energies toward the good of others.
Don’t just seek what’s good for you; consider what’s good for others too. I’m just sharing what the Bible says. 🙂
Have a wonderful Saturday!
