“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10
2. Stay with his wife.
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate.” – Matthew 19: 5-6
3. Be gentle.
“Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.” – Colossians 3:19
4. Encourage holiness & be unselfish.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.”
“So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.” – Ephesians 5: 25-26 and 28-29
5. Be faithful.
“Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth. – Malachi 2: 15
6. Be satisfied with his woman’s love.
“May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.” – Proverbs 5: 18-19
7. Be considerate and understanding.
“Likewise you husbands, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.” – 1 Peter 3: 7
“But if anyone does not provide for own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever”. – 1 Timothy 5: 8
9. Be concerned and affectionate.
“Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.” – 1 Corinthians 7: 3
10. Be caring disciplinarians.
“Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.” – Colossians 3:21
This was a real interesting topic. As I researched the Word on what a husband should do, there are many more scriptures and books of the Bible that give DIRECT instructions on the family structure, including the things that a man and a woman should do while married.
The Bible focuses on the spiritual, financial, as well as the physical benefits. These are just a few books and scriptures that I thought were pertinent to the topic.
Hope you enjoyed. Questions, comments, or just want to chat about the Word please email me at: email@example.com.
