Most of the time in our lives, we are not where we want to be. We look around and think that others are much further in life than we are. They may have degrees, be married, have nicer cars, more money, all that good stuff. Often times we think that we are last. We think that we could never be on top.
Consider this for a moment…
In the Bible, Jesus’s disciples were discussing who was the greatest. Jesus questioned them about this and they all kept quiet, not wanting to tell him about their discussion.
Jesus then told them “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)
This can be very hard to comprehend. The world tells us to be the best. Be on top. Be served. Compete. Be the greatest at any costs. We even still have discussions today about who is the greatest!
But Jesus says just the opposite…
My thoughts: Be ok being last. Don’t think you will ALWAYS be last. There is a time for everything, and just because you are last now does not mean you will always be last. Be confident in whatever position you’re in. Help others! In order to be first, we must be last.
You may be last now, but you could end up being first. Don’t let the world tell you otherwise.
