    Refined: I Love This Word!

I am in love with this word- refined! I’ve been looking into it since after writing this post, and I recently reviewed the antonyms.  You have to check this out!  If you haven’t already, read the post over the scripture Psalm 66:10.  That’s where it all started. First of all, refined = Free from impurities. Secondly, synonyms of refined = Developed, evolved, forward, higher, improved, progressive, advanced. Thirdly, antonyms of refined = Backward, lower, nonprogressive, retarded, rude, undeveloped. Lastly, the scripture Psalm 66:10 states: “For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.” This word is so powerful to me.  It is a reminder that if I am not tested,…

Psalm 66:10: God Refines Us Like Silver Through Tests

“For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.”  – Psalm 66:10 As I read this scripture, there are 2 points that jump out at me. God does test us.  Tests refine us. The keyword for me in this scripture is refined.  It caught my attention and I knew that I needed to get a full, clear understanding of the word refined. According to Merriam Webster, refined means to be free from impurities.  Reading this made me smile and definitely gave me more appreciation for Psalm 66:10. Then, I looked up synonyms of the word refined.  They are: cultivated, polished, civilized, elegant. That made me say WOW.  I was encouraged and…

I Will Never Comprehend God’s Ways

I will never comprehend God’s ways. He created me, in his image, yet I am so imperfect. He sees through my flaws, sees my essence, and reminds me of how wonderful I am. Even when I don’t feel wonderful, or even worthy. He loves me, unconditionally, and always will. Nothing I can ever do will ever change this.  No matter what I do. He allows me to fall, disciplines me, then strengthens me. He then pulls me up, BLESSES me, and ultimately makes me BETTER. I will never comprehend God’s ways. In a Life Storm? 7 Rules To Live By

We all have those times when our life seems to be one big storm.  If you are experiencing a life storm, here are 7 rules to live by: 1. Don’t suppress your feelings.  You may feel weak, discouraged, afraid, or even suicidal.  Express yourself to someone you can trust.  Allow them to assist you with moving through the process.  Don’t keep your emotions bottled up.  2. Keep living.  Do as much as you can, depending on the circumstances.  Try to keep on living.  Do a little more each day.  Don’t just stop and do nothing.  Try to stay productive.  3. Take one day at a time.  You may not see…

    Why Me?

I do things that others do, but I’m penalized.  I have such a heavy burden placed upon me.  My thoughts are often deeper than the person next to me.  They are easily understood, yet I am not.  Nothing about me is average- my thoughts, my goals, my successes, and most certainly not my struggles.    My life is not easily understood. Why this?  Why that?  Why me?  If it were not for my faith in God I would rather not even be alive.  There is too much to calculate, too much to wonder, too much to understand, and most things are NOT understood. When things are going good for us,…

My Haircut: “I’m Falling More In Love With Myself.”

I got a haircut.  How do I feel? I FEEL free, different, adventurous, BOLD, confident, pretty, and fun.  I feel like everyone is watching me- even when they aren’t.  I am more focused on my face and my natural features.  My eyebrows are defined and standing out.  I feel like I’m living.  I’m experiencing a new experience & new experiences make life worth living.  I care less about hair.  I love the style and I also know it will grow back.  I want to give away clothes and get new ones. I feel less attached to things- temporary, replaceable things.  I want to thrift shop for different pieces- bright, bold,…

LIFE: This Week I’ve Been In Tune With My World

This week has been a very inspiring week for me.  I’ve been very receptive and sensitive- receiving, internalizing, and observing everything around me.  Things that I typically wouldn’t fully receive, like art and conversations, really moved me this week.  It seemed as if I was fully in tune with the world.  Let me give you a few examples.  First, during a phone conversation with my grandma, she mentioned me opening up a clothing store, which she has done before, but this time I actually received it.  I began to envision the store.  I saw specifics.  I even thought back to a business plan that I created for a clothing store.…

    BEAUTY: How-To Discover Yours!

It’s so easy to look at our current, imperfect state and think this is as good as it gets.  We’re discouraged when we fail to see beauty. There are times when weaknesses seem to overshadow strengths and blemishes cover up beauty, leaving us feeling discontent with what we see in ourselves.  We eagerly run to quick-fixes, attempting to cover up and conceal our blemishes.  Instead, we should look within, focusing on our inside, which will inevitably brighten and beautify our outside. Every human being is flawed and far from perfect, yet there are things we can do to grow into the beautiful creatures that God designed us to be.  We…
